Catholic Wedding Vows

Catholic wedding vows are one of most important aspect of Catholic wedding in Roman Catholic Church. Traditional Catholic wedding is time bound and solemn ceremony. Couple and priest have to make choice about the wedding vows and its wording.

You can have different catholic wedding vows for traditional wedding. In most traditional catholic wedding vows, priest or minister asks series of questions to groom and bride and they have to answer it in affirmative. Instead of just answering in affirmative, couple can repeat their catholic wedding vows after the priest or couple can read wedding vows on their own either from book or memory.

Catholic wedding vows are taken in between three rituals. They are nuptials, solemn promise and exchange of wedding ring. In nuptials rite, priest asks couple individually some questions such as whether they honor each other as husband and wife. Will they accept God's children and bring them according to law of Christ and church. Couple answers in affirmative.

In solemn promise, couple is asked to join right hands and declare their affirmation before God and church. Bride and groom take their wedding vows. Then priest blesses the couple and join them together in marriage.

The priest then blesses the wedding rings which reflect deep faith and peace. With promise of unconditional love and fidelity, bride and groom exchange wedding rings.
