Christian Wedding Vows
Wedding vows are solemn promise that bride and groom made to each other during their wedding ceremony. A wedding is incomplete without exchange of wedding vows. Christian wedding is honorable to God and Christian wedding vows are honoring God's word.
Wedding vows are of different types. They are religious wedding vows, traditional wedding vows, personalized or contemporary wedding vows. Religious wedding vows also differ from religion to religion. You can have Jewish, Muslim, Irish, Greek and Christian wedding vows.
Christian wedding vows are further classified into Roman Catholic wedding vows, Baptist wedding vows and Episcopal wedding vows. Christian wedding vows are there from several generations. In Christian wedding vows, priest asks some questions to groom and bride which are as follows:
Priest or wedding officiant asks groom, "Do you (name of groom) take (name of bride) to be your wife?" In reply, groom says, "Yes, I do."
Priest then asks bride, "Do you (name of bride) take (name of groom) to be your husband?" In reply, bride says, "Yes, I do."
In some traditional Christian wedding vows, bride and groom take turn to read their Christian wedding vows like
I, (name of bride/groom) take you, (name of groom/bride), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold , from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.
